Where the hell is Bad Bonn ?
Richard D. James alias Aphex Twin was here. Japanese noise bands with family appendix. Sonic Youth even when they still existed. And of course countless other musicians and music lovers who expect more from festivals than mere entertainment. Namely: extreme sounds, surprising discoveries, rarely seen legends, curious pop. Different: music that blithely breaks down traditional genre boundaries.
Bad Bonn Kilbi is the name of this festival, which has now been taking place for 27 years on the parking lot of Café Bad Bonn in Düdingen. For years, the event has been sold out within a short time, even if the audience is expected to accept a lot. Beautiful impositions selected by Daniel "Duex" Fontana, who is in charge of the programme. And those who have enough of the music will jump into the nearby Lake Schiffenen.
"Where the hell is Bad Bonn?", as the legendary slogan is called, is no longer a question for almost anyone. Because meanwhile it is known where Bad Bonn is located: Bad Bonn is located where adventurous music lives. Where so many young and not-so-young people are regularly presented with formative concert experiences. Where it is familiar and yet not too routine. This open and yet cosy spirit of Bad Bonn Kilbi is also visible in this series of pictures, which captures all the peculiarities of this unique festival.
